Frequently asked

An answer looks wrong. What do I do?

Tap “Suggest a correction” on the result screen — it goes to us for review. You can also email the barcode and what you found on the pack to [email protected]. We review reports and update the database.

Why does a product say “Doubtful” (in the app: “Mushbooh”)?

Some ingredients (for example, a flavouring or an emulsifier) can't be fully confirmed from the label alone. Rather than guess, Helal Scan flags them so you can check with the manufacturer. It's a deliberate safety choice — we won't call something Halal when we can't be sure.

A product isn't found. Can I add it?

Yes — use “Add a missing product” and type the ingredient list from the pack. Only the text is sent (never a photo), and the next person who scans it gets an answer.

Is Helal Scan a religious authority?

No. Helal Scan is an informational tool that combines published scholarly opinions with ingredient analysis. It is not a fatwa and can be incomplete. Always verify with the manufacturer and a qualified authority before relying on a result.

How do I delete my data?

Deleting the app removes the device identifier and your local scan history. To remove ingredient submissions tied to your device, email us and we'll take care of it. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Which devices are supported?

Helal Scan runs on iPhone (iOS). On-device text recognition and the camera scanner require a modern iOS version.
